I love the Graphics Fairy. She finds some of the cutest labels and creates a printable graphic that you can download and use to stencil on whatever you want. I found this cute french label on her site and decided it would look beautiful in the middle of this gorgeous dining set I found. (Well, she wasn’t so gorgeous in the beginning, but you can tell she has potential.)
Transferring this graphic onto this table really wasn’t very difficult. All I did was use the poster print setting in adobe .pdf viewer and enlarge it to 250%. Then I taped the 9 pages together to create a huge banner. Then, the big secret to transferring graphics cheap… I used newspaper for my transfer paper. I just put some newspaper under the graphic, traced an outline, removed the newspaper and voila! A nice, easy graphic to work with right on the table.
I used the Cacao Payraud graphic on her site. I love this graphic! It’s easily one of my favorites. Roughly translated it’s an advertisement for Cocoa. It means something along the lines of “For your breakfast, take Cocoa-Payraud (which I can only assume is the brand name – like Kellogs) a product without rival.”
This cute little set is currently listed in the White Cottage Shop. The chairs were painted with Black Latex paint and the table with “linen white” latex paint. Both were mixed with Blue Minerals Chalk Paint Powder to make Chalk Paint. I then waxed the dining room chairs to a nice semi-gloss sheen. The table was finished with water-based polyurethane for a layer of extra durable protection.
One thing I love about this set was the beautiful woodwork along the side of the table. It was very difficult to paint all those nooks and crannies, but in the end I’m so happy with the way it turned out. What do you think?
