Day 9: How to Knit the Trellis Stitch {31 Days of Knitting}

Today is Day 9 of our 31 Days of Knitting Challenge. I really loved working on this stitch. I think it’s a really versatile pattern that you can incorporate into a lot of things including sweaters, blankets, hats…. Plus, it’s super easy and quick to knit. Today’s stitch is called the trellis stitch, and it really only requires you to know how to do a few very basic techniques.

HOW TO KNIT THE TRELLIS STITCH {FOR THE LOOM}

MATERIALS USED IN THE VIDEO:

Knitting Loom: Regular Gauge Kiss Loom {with 1 r in between the pins & the pegs} – We are working with just one side of the regular gauge modular loom.

Knitting Tools: We are using the knitting tool that comes with the kiss looms, but the tool that comes with your loom usually works best!

Ball of Yarn: We are using Tosh Chunky by Madeline Tosh in the color “Dahlia”

WRITTEN INSTRUCTIONS AND CHART:

  • Cast On in Multiples of 6 + 5
  • Row 1: K1, P3, *Sl 3 wyif, P3; Repeat from * to end
  • Row 2: K1, P3, *Sl 3 wyif, P3; Repeat from * to end
  • Row 3: K1, P3, *K3, P3; Repeat from * to end
  • Row 4: K1, P3, *K3, P3; Repeat from * to end
  • Row 5: K5, *Pull up loop, K5; Repeat from * to end
  • Row 6: P1, K3, *P3, K3; Repeat from * to last stitch, P1
  • Row 7: P1, *Sl 3 wyif, P3; Repeat from * to last 4 stitches, Sl 3 wyif, P1
  • Row 8: P1, *Sl 3 wyif, P3; Repeat from * to last 4 stitches, Sl 3 wyif, P1
  • Row 9: P1, K3 *P3, K3; Repeat from * to end
  • Row 10: P1, K3 *P3, K3; Repeat from * to end
