Day 27: How to Knit the Open Ring Cable Stitch {31 Days of Knitting Series}

Today is Day 27 of our 31 Days of Knitting Challenge. This stitch is called the Open Ring Cable Stitch, and it’s a little bit of a twist on the regular running cable stitch.

HOW TO KNIT THE OPEN RING CABLE {FOR THE LOOM}

MATERIALS USED IN THE VIDEO:

Knitting Loom: Regular Gauge Kiss Loom {with 1 r in between the pins & the pegs} – We are working with just one side of the regular gauge modular loom.

Knitting Tools: We are using the knitting tool that comes with the kiss looms, but the tool that comes with your loom usually works best!

Ball of Yarn: We are using ASAP 100% Merino Wool by Madeline Tosh in the color “Medieval”

WRITTEN INSTRUCTIONS AND CHART:

  • Worked over a panel of 10 stitches on a background of Reverse Stockinette Stitch
  • Row 1: P1, K8, P1
  • Row 2: Repeat Row 1
  • Row 3: P1, C4B, C4F, P1
  • Row 4: Repeat Row 1
  • Row 5: Repeat Row 1
  • Row 6: Repeat Row 1
  • Row 7: P1, T4B, T4F, P1
  • Row 8: P1, K2, P5, K2, P1
  • Row 9: T3B, P4, T3F
  • Row 10: K2, P6, K2
  • Row : Repeat Row 10
  • Row 12: Repeat Row 10
  • Row 13: T3F, P4, T3B
  • Row 14: Repeat Row 8
  • Row 15: P1, C4F, C4B, P1
  • Row 16: P1, K8, P1
  • Repeat Rows 1-16 until you’ve reached your desired length.
