Day 15: How to Knit the Crossed Cables Stitch {31 Days of Knitting Series}

Today is Day 15 of our 31 Days of Knitting Challenge. This is a good basic cable stitch called the Crossed Cables Stitch. It’s a good stitch to learn, even if it’s just to practice cable knitting on the loom!

HOW TO KNIT THE CROSSED CABLE STITCH {FOR THE LOOM}

MATERIALS USED IN THE VIDEO:

Knitting Loom: Regular Gauge Kiss Loom {with 1 r in between the pins & the pegs} – We are working with just one side of the regular gauge modular loom.

Knitting Tools: We are using the knitting tool that comes with the kiss looms, but the tool that comes with your loom usually works best!

Ball of Yarn: We are using Berroco Vintage Chunky in the color “Forrest Floor”

WRITTEN INSTRUCTIONS AND CHART:

  • Cast On: In Multiples of 12 + 14
  • Row 1: P3, T4B, T4F, *P4, T4B, T4F; Repeat from * to last 3 stitches, P3
  • Row 2: P3, K2, *P4, K2; Repeat from * to last 3 stitches, P3
  • Row 3: P1, *T4B, P4, T4F; Repeat from * to last stitch, P1
  • Row 4: P1, K2, P8, *K4, P8; Repeat from * to last 3 stitches, K2, P1
  • Row 5: P1, K2, P8, *C4B, P8; Repeat from * to last 3 stitches, K2, P1
  • Row 6: As 4th Row.
  • Row 7: P1, *T4F, P4, T4B; Repeat from * to last stitch, P1
  • Row 8: As 2nd Row.
  • Row 9: P3, T4F, T4B, *P4, T4F, T4B; Repeat from * to last 3 stitches, P3
  • Row 10: P5, K4, *P8, K4; Repeat from * to last 5 stitches, P5
  • Row : P5, C4F, *P8, C4F; Repeat from * to last 5 stitches, P5
  • Row 12: As 10th Row.
  • Repeat rows 1 -12 until you’ve reached your desired length.
